CEO Sleep Out – Steve’s story.

CEO Sleep Out – Steve’s story.

I recently took part in a sleep out raising much-needed funds for the superb charity, Walking with the Wounded. The funds raised will go towards ex-servicemen who, for whatever reason, have fallen on hard times once they have left the forces. This can range from trouble in adapting to normal civilian life, right through to family breakdowns and PTSD which can all lead to homelessness.

This was the first time I had ever raised money for a charity, previously only giving to a charity. To anyone who has never raised money off their own bat I would say `do it’. It is a wonderful feeling every time someone gives any amount on your Just Giving page. Every penny counts.

The night of the sleep out

The sleep out itself, whilst secure -unlike truly living on the streets, at least gave you some idea of what living rough and sleeping in the cold feels like. It made me think how lucky I am - when I sleep in my warm bedroom at home, I don’t run the risk of being battered, knifed, kicked, urinated on, or having my belongings stolen, being harassed by thugs, drunks or by others.

Having listened to my reasons for doing the sleep out, my son Ben decided to take part too. He raised as much as me and loved it ….so there can be a rewarding knock-on effect too

So the next time someone asks you if you want to get involved, and the charity is something that you feel strongly about, my advice would be to not think about it, just do it! Everyone wins!

I endeavour to offer all my clients a first class service. A service that they have probably never experienced before.

The aim is to ensure that all clients are insured correctly and if the worst ever happens, disaster strikes, whether to property or health I will be there to provide all the necessary help and support required. Something that is sadly lacking in our industry.
