Beware of the cold call in the world of insurance
I have recently gained a new client who tells me he has recently cost himself over £18,000 by previously switching insurance company’s. When he switched policies which he believed were pretty much like for like, he saved himself £100 on his renewal premium.
Within 9 months of this renewal he suffered a burglary at his home and over £28,000 of jewellery was stolen. His old policy gave him cover for £30,000 for his jewellery. The new one only £20,000. Worse was to follow when the wording of the new policy stated if the jewellery was not in the safe at the time of the theft, the maximum payout would be £10,000. He didn’t even have a safe to put it in. The safe wording was in the small print of the policy.
So, he saved £100 but lost £18,000. The fallout from the consequences of the cold call he had received left the policyholder with a horrendous chill. A massive price to pay to save £100!
Always speak to a broker you know or have been recommended to. Beware of trawling the internet for cheap deals because people make huge mistakes on there every day of the week. Be even more aware of cold callers!

I endeavour to offer all my clients a first class service. A service that they have probably never experienced before.
The aim is to ensure that all clients are insured correctly and if the worst ever happens, disaster strikes, whether to property or health I will be there to provide all the necessary help and support required. Something that is sadly lacking in our industry.
