Ian Cartwright
Working under the trading name Caramel Photography, Ian Cartwright is a highly respected award-winning photographer working in Cheshire and Manchester as well as the rest of the UK.
His long list of awards include The Master Photographers Association Fellowship and MPA Photographer of the Year, the British Institute of Professional Photography Fellowship and (North West Region) BIPP Photographer of the Year, BIPP Commercial Photographer of the Year and BIPP Portrait Photographer of the Year, and most recently Fellowship of the Society of International Commercial and Industrial Photographers, and North West MPA Fine Art and MPA Boudoir Gold awards.
Highest qualification
Ian’s qualifications also set him apart from the crowd: “The M-QEP, as it’s known, is the highest professional qualification available. I was awarded it in 2007 and for the next 11 years I was the UK’s only Master Qualified European Photographer,” he says.
Formerly senior photographer and Managing Director of Manchester-based Avalon Photography, Ian’s range of work has always been very wide. “I’m equally comfortable doing advertising, PR, fashion, commercial products, family and corporate portraits and weddings.” says Ian.
Reassurance
Ian offers the reassurance that using an experienced qualified professional photographer brings, but also the originality of an artist: “I like to create something different in all my work. In PR and corporate photography, for example, you have to create strong images that catch the eye of magazine editors.”
Ian on PR photography…
“In 2013 the Old Trafford-based PH Media Group was sponsoring Manchester wrestler Mo Osman in his preparations for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games,” says Ian. “Their PR agency Cameron Wells commissioned me to take photographs of Mo in action. I used my studio lighting expertise from years of advertising photography to do more than most press and PR photographers would even contemplate.”
Here’s what Andrea Cameron from the agency said: “Not an easy subject to photograph, and a gym not the most ideal location. Ian came up trumps with very creative photos that have numerous uses - large framed wall prints, to accompany press releases for the media, website, marketing material etc. I was delighted with the shots and will most certainly be using him again.”
Ian on networking…
“When member Graeme Armitage was developing a new branding scheme and website for his client Cariocca Enterprises in Miles Platting and Ardwick, he brought me in to provide the high quality professional photography his design work demanded. It was an enjoyable commission and everyone was delighted with the results, including me.”
